How does our commemorative custom centerpiece or custom wedding stage get built?

A Step Above will guide you through a three part process to complete your custom piece.

1) Free Consultation: It all begins with a free consultation in which we discuss design options, materials, budget, etc. Then we determine a rough estimate to give you a sense of what your custom centerpiece or stage is likely to cost.

2) Detailed Design: To initiate the detailed design process, we collect a small deposit to cover our time in creating design options including rendered images of each option, as well as a detailed quote. The deposit counts toward the total cost of your order.

3) Build: Once you have selected the design that best suits you and your wedding, we require a deposit of half the quoted price. Then the build begins! Your custom centerpiece or stage will be ready no later than one week prior to your event at which time we require the final payment (this timeline may change if we have to ship your stage earlier than one week prior to your event as the final payment would be due prior to shipping). You are welcome to pick up your custom piece any time after your final payment has been received. Delivery, set-up and break down services are available in the greater Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA area. If you have ordered a rental stage through Barclay Event Rentals, your custom centerpiece will be delivered with your stage.

How do we decorate our stage for the ceremony?

The options here are limited only by your imagination. For example, we build custom tables, stands, display boxes, etc. and are happy to work with your other wedding vendors to create a solution that achieves your dream look for your wedding. If you can imagine it, we will find a way to bring it to life.

What do we do with our centerpiece or stage after the ceremony?

That really depends on you as a couple. There are many options. A centerpiece may be turned into a decoratve wall hanging, bistro table or wine rack. Stages may become a centerpiece in your garden, be converted into a dining table or hung on your bedroom wall as a headboard. If you have something else in mind for your home conversion we will be happy to discuss the possibilities in your consultation. Whatever you choose we can accommodate it in the initial design.

How do we get our stage to the wedding and home afterward?

If you live in Oregon or Washington and are using one of our rental stages, stage delivery is arranged through our rental partner, Barclay Event Rentals. Your custom centerpiece will be delivered with your stage. If you are purchasing a fully custom stage and live in the Salem, OR, Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA areas we offer transportation and set-up services both to the event site and from the event site to your home. You are also welcome to pick up your stage directly from our studio. For anyone outside of this area, please contact us, regarding services available in your area.

Can a custom wedding stage be used as an heirloom piece?

Absolutely! In fact, we LOVE it when a family chooses this option. As every stage is completely custom we can accommodate any number of designs. Family stages can be made with a centerpiece option (like our rental stages) so that each couple can have a custom piece to use in the stage for their ceremony. See our Gallery for examples of rental stages with custom centerpieces. We are also happy to use your materials in the build process. This is a VERY special way to commemorate several weddings within your family for years to come.

Can stages be built for occasions other than weddings?

Of course! We are happy to accommodate a stage for any occasion. Let your imagination run wild!
